OUR HISTORY

1994

Ivan Toljanić, his children, and their spouses started a family business named "Gospoja." The company's name was inspired by the local votive church, "Church of Our Lady of Health-Gospoja," near the Toljanić family home.

1995

The family founded their wine brand, "Žlahtina Gospoja". This year, the company expanded its business in the accommodation sector, opening the restaurant and guesthouse "Gospoja" inside the Toljanić family house.

1999

A big step in the development of family winemaking was the construction of the winery in Sveta Nedija, located right in between the vineyards and the town of Vrbnik.

2003

The "Caffe Bar Vrbnička Žlahtina" was opened on the town's main square. Later, in 2008, it was renovated and expanded. After the reconstruction, it was converted into a restaurant, "Konoba Vrbnička Žlahtina," which offers typical local products.

2010

The business has continued to develop in all directions. In 2010, Gospoja took a big step by opening the Gospoja Pizzeria and Wine Shop in the historic core of Vrbnik, where the old post office was once located. People in Vrbnik were so emotionally bound to the office that, even today, locals don't say they go eat pizza at Gospoja, but they do say they eat at the "post office".

2012

For the first time, the Toljanić and Brusić families decided to expand their business outside the island, opening a shop on the mainland, in Crikvenica, to offer their products.

2016

After the death of Ivan Toljanić, in his honor, Franjo Toljanić and his family, as a sign of recognition for the achievements of the investments in the hospitality sector, opened the Hotel Vinotel Gospoja. This was to enhance and continue the concept of Bed and Breakfast. The hotel opened in 2016 and was built in just eight months. It is located on the same site as the old Toljanić family house.

2018

In 2018, a wine shop was opened in the city of Rijeka. Considering the store's growing success, after a few years, the decision was made to open a second store in the same town.

2020

Meanwhile, wine production continued to grow, and the winemaking cellar was expanded and equipped to increase its capacity and improve wine quality.

2021

A ham production was built within the winery complex under the name "Pršutana Gospoja," intended for the production and tasting of prosciutto.

2023

The company's expansion continues, and in 2023, a wine shop was opened in Baška, located on the island of Krk. Unlike the shops in Rijeka, which are open all year round, this small shopping space only begins during the summer, the peak period for tourism on the island.
